I recently played Ghost OF Tsushima on my Victus 15 Laptop and the average CPU temp is 90 degrees . I searched on the internet and found out that any temperature above 85 degress is not normal. Should I be worried?

Hi @Mokotan

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

A CPU temperature of 90°C during gaming is definitely on the high side, but it’s not necessarily dangerous—modern processors are designed to handle high temps. However, sustained temperatures above 85°C can lead to thermal throttling, reducing performance over time, and may shorten your laptop’s lifespan if left unchecked.

Here’s how to bring it down:

Check Airflow:

  • Make sure the laptop is on a hard surface, not a bed or couch.
  • Use a cooling pad if possible.

Clean the Fans & Vents:

  • Dust buildup can restrict airflow.
  • Use compressed air to clear vents and fans.

Adjust Performance Settings:

  • Lower graphics settings in Ghost of Tsushima.
  • Enable Power Saver or Balanced Mode in Windows settings when not gaming.

Repaste the Thermal Compound (For Experts):

  • If your laptop is older, reapplying high-quality thermal paste can help regulate temperatures.

If the temperature frequently spikes above 95°C, it’s worth monitoring closely or even reaching out to HP support. Let me know if you need detailed steps for any of these solutions!
