HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 Notebook PC (4B855AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop HP EliteBook 840 14 inch G9 seems to consume more power than the default 65 watts charger can deliver.

This is the travel adaptor / the default power adapter that comes with the laptop when I bought this product, but then it is showing the above error message until my laptop is down to under 5% and then shuts down itself.

Note: the adaptor is not dead, as it is warm and can be used to charge my USB type-C Powerbank quickly.

The Power mode I am using has been set up to Best Power Efficiency in Windows 11, but all modes are the same, not enough power to charge the laptop.

How to fix the above issue?

Thank you for choosing and using HP product and services.

@Server_Admin,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP EliteBook 840 14 Inch G9 Notebook PC (4B855AV) is powered with a 65-watt power supply, with HP p/n: L67440-001 "nPFC, USB-C 1.8", or HP p/n: L04650-850 "nPFC SLIM USB-C STRT 1.8m" -please verify.

You could try a higher wattage USB-C power adapter (90 watt), such as illustrated here: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Laptops-Charger-Latitude7420-Latitude/dp/B076H81HP1/ref=sr_1_110?crid..., and see if this will resolve your lack of (charging) power issue.

Kind Regards,
