Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

recently updated my laptop's BIOS to the latest version. While the installation completed successfully without any errors, the 'Maximize Battery Health' feature is no longer functioning. Despite having the battery limit enabled in the settings, the laptop continues to charge fully to 100%. I have already tried toggling the setting off and on, but the system is still ignoring the charge limit.

Hi @MeAsMe

That's how it works: in Windows, you might see the charge at 100%, but in reality, that 100% is based on the remaining 80% of the battery's charge.

The Maximize Battery Health Management setting maximizes the long-term health of the battery by limiting its available full charge capacity to 80% of the design charge capacity, which is ideal for users who primarily keep their notebook connected to AC power.

This adjusted full charge capacity prevents the battery from entering into a high state-of-charge, a crucial step in mitigating accelerated chemical aging over time. This configuration can help optimize battery health, supporting a longer lasting and healthier battery life.

Use this setting in environments where the notebook is connected constantly to AC power or connected to a docking station throughout the day.

If the battery is currently charged to more than 80% of available full charge capacity when this setting is enabled, the battery capacity can be discharged either by disconnecting the computer from AC power or by letting the system slowly discharge the battery over time. On newer devices, the system might automatically discharge the battery to 80%.

Note:

When the Maximize Battery Health Management setting is selected, the Battery status icon in the Windows system tray displays 100%. The notebook battery is being limited to 80% of the design charge capacity.
