Hi @davd4584,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If specific keys on your HP Envy x360 have stopped working, there could be a few potential causes, ranging from software issues to hardware malfunctions. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Check for Physical Issues
- Clean the Keyboard: Dust and debris can cause keys to malfunction. Use compressed air to blow out any debris from beneath the keys.
- Inspect for Damage: Look for any visible signs of damage or stuck keys.
2. Restart Your Laptop
- A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches that affect keyboard functionality.
3. Update Keyboard Drivers
- Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard device, and select Update driver.
- HP Support Website: Check HP’s website for any updated keyboard drivers specifically for your laptop model.
4. Check Keyboard Settings
- Language and Region Settings: Ensure that your keyboard layout is set to the correct language:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
- Check your preferred languages and make sure the keyboard layout matches.
5. Use On-Screen Keyboard
- To test if the keys are functioning, use the on-screen keyboard:
- Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
- Turn on the On-Screen Keyboard and see if the affected keys respond.
6. Check for Software Conflicts
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the keys work there. If they do, it might indicate a software conflict.
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 to access the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select Safe Mode and see if the keyboard functions normally.
7. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard and run the troubleshooter.
8. Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure your operating system is up to date:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
