Hi @Skoozy,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the backlit feature on your HP Pavilion - 15-cs3153cl laptop is not working, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly fix the issue:

1. Check the Backlight Toggle Key

  • Most HP laptops have a specific key or key combination to toggle the backlight on or off. This is usually the F5 key or another function key with an icon of a keyboard light.
  • Press this key to see if the backlight turns on. You might need to hold the Fn key while pressing the backlight key.

2. Adjust Backlight Settings in Windows

  • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Look for any keyboard backlight settings in the Display section. Some laptops allow you to control the brightness and duration of the keyboard backlight here.

3. Update Keyboard Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupt keyboard drivers can cause the backlight to stop functioning. To update your drivers:
    1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Keyboards and right-click on your keyboard device.
    3. Select Update driver and then choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

4. Update BIOS

  • Sometimes, the backlight feature may not work due to an outdated BIOS. To update the BIOS:
    1. Go to the HP Support website.
    2. Enter your laptop model (15-cs3153cl) and select your operating system.
    3. Download and install the latest BIOS update if available.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • A hard reset can resolve various hardware and software issues:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Disconnect all peripheral devices (external drives, printers, etc.).
    3. Remove the power adapter and, if possible, the battery.
    4. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
    5. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.

6. Check for Hardware Issues

Refer to this document: HP Pavilion - 15-cs3153cl User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
