Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The battery indicator of my Hp laptop remains color orange even it is already fully charged. And when I turn on my laptop it does not light color white either. How will I solve this?

When you do not identify your desktop or laptop PC, you tie our hands behind our backs. Help us to help you.

When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.
That will open the Windows run dialogue

Type in msinfo32 and press enter.

The ninth line is the SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.

The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.

That is much better!

You own an HP 14s-dk0123au laptop

From the user manual:

AC adapter and battery light

● White: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is fully charged.

● Blinking white: The AC adapter is disconnected and the battery has reached a low battery level.

● Amber: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is charging.

● Off: The battery is not charging.

You will not see a white led unless the power adapter is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.
If the LED remains amber when the notebook has a power adapter plugged in, it is still charging.

It would be a good idea to run the Windows Battery-Report utility. You can copy and paste  the results here in a reply to your the thread.

I will post a hyperlink here to an article I wrote in which a portion of it describes how to invoke and use the Windows Battery Report utility.

Here it is: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Is-your-notebook-plugged-in-and-not-charging/...
We can compare the design storage capacity to the present day fully charged capacity to get a full picture of the state of your battery.

Have you owned and been using the notebook for a few years?

Is your notebook still withing the free factory one year warranty period?

Has your BIOS been updated to the most recent edition?

This could be either a hardware or firmware issue.

I have no idea as to what "battery span" means.  Please elaborate.

Hi! I'm pertaining to how many hours is the average for a fully charged battery to be discharged down to 0%. Thank you

HP Recommended

There is no "average" time for battery discharge.

That is because many variables can affect how long a battery will power a laptop.

There is a very long list  of variables.

It starts with the processor and whether or not it is a low powered one.

Does a laptop have a discrete processor or does it have only the system on a chip built in graphics?

The storage capacity of the battery in watt hours.

How a laptop is used. Gaming? Browsing the web? Mining Bitcoins?

Whether or not it is set to performance or balanced power mode for Windows matters.

There are many more.

It also depends on whether a laptop is a base entry level, mainstream or top tier laptop.

Base entry level laptops like the generic HP laptops get 3-4 hours of mobile use.

A mainstream model Pavilion also gets about 3.5-5 hours.

A premium model like an Envy gets about 3.5-5 hours.

A top tier ultrabook like an x36 Spectre 13 with an Intel Core i5 processor gets 8 hours or more of mobile use.

All of those also depend on what I stated earlier.
