HP Spectre X360 - 15-Df1211ng
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. Noticed such a nuisance
The drivers are all installed.

Under load, the fans continue to spin at the same speed (minimum).
Therefore, the processor temperature can reach 80-90 degrees.

The second system has Windows 10 installed, and everything works clearly there. When the load appears, the fans start spinning much faster and the CPU temperature is about 55-60 degrees.

Any solution?

@br0cker

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on the fan: HP Notebook PCs - Fan Is Noisy and Spins Constantly

  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  • In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent the noisy operation from occurring. For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

Note: Making changes to fan speed may cause overclocking or over-throttling causing hardware malfunctions within the device and hence is not recommended or supported by HP.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello.

This universal answer does not fit my situation. I will partially repeat myself once again.

Two systems are installed, Windows 10 and Windows 11, a clean install a couple of weeks ago. On Windows 11, drivers are installed first through a system update (the fan does not increase the speed), then all drivers were forcibly installed through the driver pack (fans also do not increase the speed).

The cooling system is completely clean, maintenance was done by me a month ago, Arctic MX 4 thermal paste.

BIOS - F.26

Unfortunately, it is impossible to see the actual fan speeds on this laptop, but at least approximately see them in the speedfan program.

w10.png

On windows 10, everything works correctly. The fan goes from 2200 rpm to 3500 rpm, and sometimes to 4500. The operating temperatures are much lower.

ц11.png

On Windows 11, the fan speed is always 2281, they do not change under load. The laptop is very hot.

Of course, you can write that the laptop is not yet adapted for Windows 11, but many spectre models have problems with overheating. I had problems earlier with the fact that the fan did not always turn on if it was installed in the bios.

Long searches always lead to one thing - SPECTRE laptops use a speed control chip that is different from others, and today there is no normal software written so that it would work normally. Also, no program can normally show the speed of fans.

I am already very sorry in my choice that I bought SPECTRE, it is very expensive, the case is made of high quality, but the software leaves much to be desired.

Observing the temperatures of the notbook, on Windows 10, the fans do not work at levels, the fans turn on only after the notbook becomes very hot. 3500 rpm turns on at about 82 degrees of the processor, and should turn on much earlier.

THERE ARE NO DRIVER UPDATES, BIOS UPDATES ARE VERY LONG, BIOS SOFTWARE DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY TODAY. HP PAY ATTENTION TO THE SPECTRE SERIES LAPTOPS!

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. As you've performed all the steps and the issue persists this could be a hardware related issue. If you still need additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction or a remote session with our HP Support team if you would like to continue troubleshooting.

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

I have the same issue with my HP ENVY X360 Convertible 15-dr1xxx.

How to fix this?

HP Recommended

There are no solutions yet.

HP, when will you update the drivers and fix the incorrect BIOS versions?

HP Recommended

Same issue, also BIOS/UEFI firmware update to F.45 does NOT “Turn fan on always” even when that option is selected in BIOS/UEFI. Only one speed when temp too high already.

Have tools, will travel; A plus certified, MCSE, tier 1 level Sys. admin. 20 years IT exp. Also component lvl diags and repair.

just going to throw this out there, but go into power settings and edit power plan. set the maximum CPU performance to 99 rather then 100. Do this for both on battery and plugged in. I tried this and it fixed my fan issue.

I had the same overheating problem. My device is a HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-aw0xxx.

Under Windows 10, I already had to run HP Command Center with Thermal Profile as "Comfort", but at least it worked well under Windows 10. The problem is that HP is no longer supporting HP Command Center for Windows 11 and the software doesn't work, so you can't force the fan on that way in Windows 11.

But here is what seems to work with my device:
1. Turn off the orientation (gyroscope) sensor in Device Manager
2. Turn on Fan always on in the BIOS

Detailed directions for #1
I think that the orientation sensor may be disabling the fan in certain positions, since the fan has worked great since disabling the sensor again (like I had also done in Windows 10)

With the laptop resting normally on a flat surface (not on its side or in tablet mode), go into the Device Manager. Under System devices, find the "Intel(R) Integrated Sensor Solution" and choose Disable. If you want the normal behavior back, just enable the sensor again in Device Manager
