The f5 key does not turn on the keyboard backlight. Pressing it by itself causes no response from the laptop. Using the Fn + F5 key causes the screen to refresh, but no keyboard backlight comes on. Please help.
I have already accessed the BIOS and verified that the Action Keys are Enabled. I tried disabling and then re-enabling them, but this too did not solve the problem.

Hi@, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand that notebook has an issue with the backlight. not all the model Hp Spectre has a backlight keyboard.
May I know the Operating system using?
May I know the model number of the notebook?
Please share the info I can share the troubleshooting step to resolve the issue

Are you kidding bro?
So your solution to my non-functional keyboard backlight is
- to ask for the OS (information I provided previously), and the model number of my laptop to tell me that... the laptop has a backlit keyboard?
- Then, you provide a link to an article showing troubleshooting steps I stated that I already tried and they were futile.
Thank you for putting this purchase in perspective. You have certainly assisted me with making the decision whether I should just return this brand-new defective laptop, or trust HP to repair it efficiently. I feel enlightened.
