HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk0086ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I have HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk0086ur. A couple of days ago I noticed that my processor always works at the maximum frequency (4GHz) even WITHOUT load and without significant processor heating. Processor base frequency 2.4GHz. My guess is that after updating Windows (my OS version is 10.0.18363), the "Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) - Coffee Lake" driver stopped working. I downloaded the latest version (from July 10, 2020) of this driver from your official website, specifically for my laptop model. But when I try to install this driver, then an error about version incompatibility appears (see the picture). Now I am waiting for the update of this driver on your site. Please provide an updated version of the driver as soon as possible, which can work on my version of Windows. Perhaps the problem is not with this driver, but then please help me figure it out. Thank you. Michael.Error.jpg

Sorry, but nothing helped. The HP Support assistant is installed. No updates required. BIOS has been updated to the latest version.

I understand your concerns.

HP Computers / Notebook uses a customized BIOS setting (Tattooed BIOS) of which some features including overclocking and increasing the VRAM are locked.

This is done in the best interest of safeguarding the PC for the optimal performance and not to cause any extensive component failure.

To conclude, the VRAM and Processor Speed on your Notebook is already shared with a specific value, and it's locked and cannot be changed.

Have a nice day!!

OK thanks. But it seems to me that before the frequency was base (2.4GHz). I hope that the constant maximum frequency does not negatively affect the laptop.
