Pavilion 16
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought HP pavilion 16 Gaming

I5 10300

Gtx 1660ti max q

After 1 month of use i noticed increased in temperature of CPU while gaming.

It remain between 80-85 C° with CPU clock speed below 4 Ghz but after 1 month of use i noticed CPU always above 90 and sometime reaches 100 C° while gaming and i noticed during playing game my CPU speed locked to 4.19 Ghz.

Only changes i have done is add extra hhd on empty slot.

And recently Upgraded Bios which is recommended by HP Suppourt Assistant.

I have tried resetting my Windows but still issue is their.

What i have to do now.

Intel specifications of your notebook's processor

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/201839/intel-core-i5-10300h-processor-8m-cache-...

The maximum T Junction temperature published by Intel is 100 deg C.  If the processor's T Junction goes above that number it will shut down to protect itself.

Notebooks which are specifically designed for gaming do tend to run warm as a norm.  If you live in a place where the ambient temperature is normally quite high, it is likely to be a good plan to either use a notebook cooler (with fans), a notebook stand which give the notebook space for  suitable air exchange or consider running the fan high at all times.

What is the ambient temperature where you are using the notebook?

I live in the southern region of the United States where it is usually quite warm.  I use a notebook stand with my HP Spectre 13 notebook, but do not use it for gaming.

What utility are you using to determine the T Junction temperature?

Adding an extra HDD would tend to add to the temperature that the notebook runs at.

I highly recommend using SSD products instead of legacy hard disk drives. That suggestion is for increased performance and to keep the temperature of the notebook  to reasonable levels.

The temperature where i live remain between 20 to 30 C°.

And i am using msi afterburner and Omen control center to moniter the temperatures.

As i have added hhd to my notebook by opening the back lid. Is this will avoid the company warranty?
