Here's the Service Manual:

Manual

The specs say the max memory is 8 gigs which you have but there are two slots. You have an empty slot and could install another 8 gig module to have 16 gigs.

There is no slot for an M.2 type "gumstick" SSD. The only type of SSD you can have is a 2.5 inch wide SATA SSD; the kind that is the same size and shape as a hard drive and you would have to remove the existing hard drive to do that. You could put the hard drive in a caddy which replaces the DVD drive as the only way to have both an SSD and a hard drive in the machine at the same time.

P. 42 for hard drive/SSD "how to" and p. 46 for memory upgrade procedure.

8 gig module:

8-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 693374-005

will there be an issue if i add another 8 gb to the exsisting 8gb by exceeding the max memory ?

HP Recommended

No...the 8 gig max is a mistake. Any time a computer has 2 slots and can take an 8 gig module in one slot it can take a second one in the open slot.
