HP Omen 15-ce002ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a Thunderbold 3 Hub (CalDigit TS3Pro).

When i coneect it to the USB-C Port labeled with an Lightning-Symbol i can hear the "connecting" sound an find some obscure USB-Root-Hub und also a not specified "TS3Plus" device but none of the USB-Ports, Displayports or SD-Card-Reader etc. of the TS3 seems to bee working. As far as i know the port is realy is a thunderbolt and not "only" USB-C, as this topic came up befor in this forum

Tried troubleshooting alone, updated bios/firmware/drivers/chipsets but nothing changend.

Read some posts in this very forum but couldnt figure out an solution helping me to get my ts3 working

Still i can only find the unlabeled USB-Device

Maybe somebody else also had the same issue. I would be more then happy if anybody can provide an answer

Greetings

@banhien technically if the device actually supports Thunderbolt 3 then there shouldn't be major compatibility issues.

@SirMaxTheT I have no clue where you were told that the USB-C port is a Thunderbolt 3 port, but it's not. The lightning icon you're seeing is the HP Sleep and Charge icon. People get this mixed up.

You can see the specs for yourself: https://pcb.itcs.hp.com/api/catalogs/ww-en/nodes/17062451/dynamic-collateral

@SirMaxTheT

The question is: are they (HP machine and the hub) COMPATIBLE ?

That is everyone thought and DREAM. After working on the IT industry for nearly 40 years, I know what COMPATIBLE means.

Hello @banhien,

I understand and respect that; I wasn't trying to undermine you or anything.

I just wanted to make the point that considering that the majority of Thunderbolt 3 devices don't have strict compatibility guidelines, to see that the OP had a near-dead dock most likely indicated a hardware limitation.

Kind regards,

Eddy

After Re-Checking the specs i have to confirm you're right...I mixed up the ports. In the 15-ce002nx series there are only USB Ports and a DP1.2 but no Thunderbolt at all

in an upgraded model they have the exact same amount of ports but the usb-c one is actually a thunderbolt!

I just fell in the trap they plantet by using the same logo.

Thank you guys for your help
