HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae003na
Microsoft Windows 11

One of my two Thunderbolt ports has stopped working. Able to charge my computer via the second thunderbolt port.

I need to know how to resolve this issue.

Here is the Thunderbolt port driver for your notebook.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87501-88000/sp87988.exe

If that does not help, then I suggest installing the latest version of the chipset driver.

Your driver/software portal is at the hyperlink below this line.

If this happened as a result of a recent Windows update, you can also use the restore point before the update to roll it back and recover use of the USB 3.1 Type-C port.

Unfortunately, the solutions offered have not worked. Thanks for the advice anyway. Strange that one port is working and the other has stopped. If the second one stops working, I will not be able to charge my computers battery.

The first solution, when run, states that the thunderbolt cannot be repaired?

I don't know if any further steps are possible. Open to suggestions.

Many thanks

can you post an image of the error message?

Have you used the HP Support Assistant? There could be a driver available that  is not at the Hp driver portal.

You can use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to test the USB ports.

Power on and immeditely tap the F2 key to invoke the diagnostics. Choose Component tests and then USB port tests.

Hi, thanks so much for showing an interest in my problem.

1. No error message pops up. The port is just dead (does not charge or transfer data).

2. Can't find any diagnostics for the usb ports on HP Support Assistant.

3. Strange!! - one of my two Thunderbolt ports is working fine. I am able to charge my laptop via this working port. It also works for data transfer.

4. Will try the F2 suggestion and report back.

Thanks
