HP Spectre 15-eb0000 x360 Convertible Laptop PC RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all,

I have a Spectre X360 2020.  Ran into an issue more than a year ago where power delivery burnt something out with the USB-C ports and had to get service work done by HP.  They replaced the motherboard back then and I just ran into the issue again and I'm out of warranty.

I'm pretty sure that this is a design flaw as the laptop was lightly used and I decided to run it a day of gaming utilizing a 100W PD charger.  After a reboot the port is dead.  Attempted a bios-clear and a usb reset (holding power button while off and unplugged for 15,30,60 seconds) and I'm not getting any power to both ports at all nor will plugging in USB power show a light on the notebook to indicate charging.  Like before the ports are dead...  Windows 11 device manager constantly refreshes like it's detecting new hardware and one of the USB devices comes up intermittently as failed.  Same as before.

It's a great laptop that I'd love to keep.  What are my options for repairs?  Warranty work for this issue was last done on 11/2021 and my Care Pack expired on 7/2022.  I'm happy to pay for repairs and would prefer HP to do the repair if it's still feasible.

Thanks for your help!

Gabe

I'd like to mention that I see on my support page the ability to extend my coverage for $169.  Happy to pay this (plus any other repair costs) if this is the best route.  Thank you!
