HP Zbook Studio G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I am trying to connect an eGPU (AMD 5700xt) to my HP Zbook Studio G3 using the ADT-R43SG pcie platform connected to an NVME to Thunderbolt converter. The eGPU powers up when the thunderbolt port is connected is not recognized as a display adapter in Device Manager.

I checked the 'About' section of the Thunderbolt Software and it appears that the "Controller driver version" and and "Networking driver version" are Unknown (see image below). I suspect this has something to do with the eGPU not being recognized. I have updated my thunderbolt related and BIOS drivers to the latest version found on the website. These do not include the Thunderbolt dock drivers since I don't have a thunderbolt dock.

Has anybody encountered a similar issue, at least with the Controller driver version being unknown?

My laptop specs are as follows:
HP Zbook Studio G3

WIndows 10 Pro 1903

CPU: Intel Core-i7 6700HQ

GPU: Nvidia Quadro m1000m

STORAGE:  SAMSUNG MZVKW512HMJP-000H1

I have the Zbook 15 G3 which is very similar and on the Thunderbolt information app it says eGPUs not supported. I am home for the weekend away from my Zbook but on Monday I can post screenshots of my information. To be fair I have never tried an eGPU in it.

Update: Here is the about screen on my Thunderbolt app:

right click and about on Tbolt controller app in taskbarright click and about on Tbolt controller app in taskbar

Hi Huffer,

Thank you for the response. In the screenshot on my original post, the "Controller driver version" shows up as "Unknown" while yours has a driver version. I have downloaded the latest drivers from HP and the driver version is still unknown. Do you know how to fix this issue?

No but I see your other driver is newer than mine. I will see if I can update to your version and let you know what happens.
