HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W with HDMI Adapter
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I want to upgrade the firmware of the Thunderbolt dock. I need to do this from a PC that has no USB-C, ie no through the fixed cable.
If I connect one of the other USB ports the update tool crashes during the ‘detecting…’

I use the dock for my work laptop which does have a USB C, but that laptop won’t allow me to install the firmware update tool.

The immediate problem I had "dock won't activate after PC hibernate" was resolved by registering the dock in the HP Thurderbolt Control Center as an Approved device. No clue how I should have known about this, but everything is now working as it should. No longer need for the firmware update.

@Rutger55

What is your HP Thunderbolt™ Dock 120W dock ? What is your machine ? Are they compatible ?

>>>> I need to do this from a PC that has no USB-C

Your saying your machine does not have no USB-C port. That means no way the dock is compatible with your machine.

Regards.

Hi Banhien, I use the dock on a compatible Elitebook. The reason why I would want to update the dock from another PC is that the Elitebook is locked by my employer and I cannot run the update tool.

Anyway, I found another way to solve my original problem so firmware update no longer urgent.
