I have a Thunderbolt G2, and everything works as it should. Mostly. All the ports work, the power light in the back indicates power from the wall- and the connected power cable (i have the combo) is recognized by my android device, but doesn't charge it. File transfer only. I have used this as a backup to power my phone.
It only shows "charging connected device via usb" and when i change it, it shows "controlled by connected device" and nit "this device" so I can't even change it to "charging" which i should reasonably (and have been) able to do.
However, I plug the same cable into the primary device (laptop) I have used with it for YEARS (various elitebooks) and nothing. The white power indicator doesn't work. No charging, but my phone recognized its there. If it was a dead cable, it would show nothing....
Am I missing something here?

What is your Thunderbolt g2 charger and what is your machine ?

Well, the dock is hsn-ix01
Laptop is 840 G8
But it doesn't charge my android devices on the attached wire either.
What doesn't make sense to me is that the cable obviously holds current, but doesn't charge ANY device.

You did not answer my question. Is it an HP Thunderbolt™ Dock 120W G2 (2UK37AA) ? If yes, please download and install Firmware from

Hmmm, no. This is the one that has the attached cable, which doesn't supply power. My laptop doesn't recognize it as power.
It's
2UK37AA AB
I'm not sure the issue is firmware, or how I would install it. The laptop doesn't recognize it is attached, so im not sure how i would do this. but other things do.
non-laptop devices don't charge either.
In short,
When plugged into itself-, The top LED flashes, indicating the wire is plugged in. But when plugged into something else, it doesn't flash or go solid. All other ports work just fine.

One other update- I removed the charging cable thinking it was the cable. It wasn't. I removed the usb cable internally and checked it on another charging plug. The cable itself charges just fine.
Something about the device itself isn't charging, but is recognized by itself, and my phone to at least be "plugged in" regardless of wire used.
The laptop doesn't recognize it at all.
