HP ProBook 650 G8 Notebook PC (1Y5L1AV)

I have an HP ProBook 650 G8 laptop with serial number [edit]. I connected an external SSD to the laptop via the Thunderbolt port. After connecting it, the speed test (I used CrystalDiskMark) showed 37 MB/s. Then I connected the SSD via the USB-A port, and it showed 350 MB/s. I checked the port with the USBDeview software, which detects the Thunderbolt port as USB 2.1.

English is not my native language, so sorry for any mistakes.

The specifications of your laptop model do not show that it has a Thunderbolt port.

It has a  USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port (Power delivery, DisplayPort 1.4)

Thank you for the response. I think it is Thunderbolt because there is a Thunderbolt settings menu in the BIOS. I need Thunderbolt for working with virtual machines. In the BIOS menu, it was possible to configure it only for charging and DisplayPort, and there was no mention of additional functions.

It appears that HP has published different sets of specifications for your laptop. I can't discern which one is accurate.

Read and view the  marketed specifications for your laptop at the hyperlink below.

See the Product Content Browser information for your laptop below at the hyperlink.
In the TechSpec section that describes ports. It states that your laptop has a Thunderbolt 4 port.
