I have hp pavilion 15 gaming laptop ( cx0140tx) nd i want to add nvme ssd for extra space, but I have a little confusion that what size SSD will my laptop support? Nd which type of ssd support nvme or sata 3??

Hi:

 

Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook.

According to the report, it will take either a SATA  SSD up to 1 TB or an NVMe SSD up to 2 TB.

But according to this service manual my laptop can only support maximum SSD size up to 256 GB, How can you say that my laptop can support SSD up to 1tb or 2tb ???

That is not what it is saying. The Manual is written for HP techs and simply lists the different configurations HP offered from the factory. That does not limit what can successfully be installed. There is no practical capacity limit for either SATA or NVME SSDs. You can install whatever is available to buy in the market. Good luck.
