Hi,

My keyboard has stopped working recently due to a spillage. After searching online, it has come to my attention that the correct way to fix this is to replace the entire top cover as the keyboard itself is part of the top cover and isn't designed to be replaceable.

I have searched through the online User Manual for the model of laptop I have but it doesn't give instructions on how to replace the top cover only. It only gives instructions on how to disassemble the entire laptop leaving just the top cover.

My question is: Do I have to disassemble the entire laptop to replace the top cover, or can I simply replace the top cover by itself?

Is it just a matter of taking the screws out of the bottom cover, prying the top cover off carefully to reveal the keyboard and touchpad cables, disconnecting these cables and reattaching them to the new top cover, fitting the new top cover and reinstalling the screws back on the bottom cover?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Top cover/keyboard
The top cover/keyboard spare part remains after all other spare parts have been removed.

From p. 75 of the Manual. All the internal parts; the motherboard, the hard drive, etc. are fastened in to the backside of the top cover so you have to follow the Manual. Flip it over, remove the rear cover, take all the "stuff" out of the laptop and lay it aside, leaving just the top cover. Now toss that aside, bring in the new top cover and rebuild the laptop onto it. No way to make this any easier I am sorry to say.
