The touch pad stoppe working. I have done all the tests on the HP video. Drivers up to date, turn the touchpad on and off, hard reset. The HP diagnostic test of the touchpad times out after 6 seconds because I can't move the pointer inside the test box since the mouse pad does not respond. External mouse works. Pointer works.

Hi @Alex_SD
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing a frustrating issue with the touchpad on your HP Spectre x360, and you've already tried some common troubleshooting steps. Here are a few additional suggestions to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Touchpad Settings in Windows
Sometimes, the touchpad settings can be accidentally changed, and it might be turned off from the system settings.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Make sure the Touchpad toggle is on.
- If it's on, you can try toggling it off and back on to reset it.
2. Update/Reinstall Touchpad Driver
Even though you've mentioned drivers are up to date, there could be a glitch with the current driver. Try reinstalling the touchpad driver:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
- Right-click on your touchpad device (it might be listed as something like "Synaptics" or "ELAN"), then choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
- Alternatively, go to HP’s support site, search for your model, and download the latest touchpad driver.
3. Use HP Support Assistant for Troubleshooting
Since you mentioned you've tried HP diagnostics but it timed out, you might want to use HP Support Assistant to see if it can identify any issues specifically related to your touchpad.
- Download HP Support Assistant from the HP website if you don't have it installed.
- Open HP Support Assistant and run a hardware diagnostic scan.
4. Check BIOS Settings
In some cases, the touchpad may be disabled in the BIOS. You can check the BIOS settings to see if this is the case:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for an option related to Internal Pointing Device or Touchpad. Make sure it is enabled.
- Save and exit BIOS, then check if the touchpad works.
I hope this helps.
