How did this problem evolve on your side? We have one device of this type that is also facing this issue. HP has serviced the device twice, replacing the touchpad assembly. The device was good for 3 months, but the user started experiencing the issues again.
I myself experienced the issue shortly after the other user's first mention, did the power reset trick, applied the firmware update and never had the problem again.

Hi,
in my case, I could fix the problem by following humei8 indications about firmware upgrading but then the problem appeared again and it's not working again any more...
I think I could make it work again by deactivating the fingerprint reader in the BIOS and booting the system but, again, it stop working after a few days. There may be some IRQ problem... I don't really know.
Currently my touch pad is nor working 😞 any help is welcome.
Could you please tell us what you mean by performing the "power reset trick"?
Thanks!

Hi All,
Concerning the power reset trick. It has not been mentioned in this thread, but can be found in a different thread in which an EliteBook user describes exactly the same symptoms. This is how it goes:
- Detach the charger
- Remove the battery
- Hold the power button for 60 seconds (or possibly longer)
- Insert the battery
- Connect charger
- Boot device
This has worked for the faulty device in the past. At some point the user brought it in because it was faulty again. At that point even this trick didn't revive the touchpad.
The user brought the device in for servicing this morning, when I booted the device the touchpad was working again. I spent some time trying to reproduce the problem, but couldn't. I'd honestly be happy if I could reproduce the problem. Do share if you have any thoughts on how to do this.
Have any of you contacted HP about this? If you haven't it might be a good thing to do so, because I am under the impression that HP is totally unaware of this issue.
Please share any (future) information you might have on this issue. I will do so to. I'm also happy to answer any additional questions you might have.
Best Regards.

Most of the time the touchpad failure happens after the system goes sleep and goes back on. Sometimes it just paralysed without any cue. The touchpad first stops working, after rebooting the touchpad tab of the mouse control interface would disappear, leaving only the touchstick tab. The touchpad also disappears from the device manager tree, showing that the system does not recognise the touchpad at all. I think it is the problem of the controller of the touchpad on the mainboard instead of the touchpad itself. Thanks.

Hi,
I've just tried the "power reset trick" and it seems it fixed the problem. The trackpad is working again.
However, knowing how faulty it is, I don't count it will be fixed forever (crossing fingers)...
Thanks anyway! I'll keep you informed if it fails again

Hi All,
Thanks for the information. I was also under the impression that this issue surfaces mostly when waking up from sleep. I also noticed the TouchPad dissapearing from the synaptic driver and device manager.
J canovas, I hope it's fixed for you.
Best regards.
