Welcome to HP Support Community, @Harish63

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you upgraded to Microsoft Windows 11 and your touchpad gestures stopped functioning, this is most likely a software-related issue—not a hardware fault—especially if basic input such as cursor movement still works.

Follow the steps below to restore gesture support:

1. Verify Touchpad & Gesture Settings

Open the Search bar and type Touchpad settings, then press Enter.

Confirm:

Touchpad = ON

Multi-finger gestures such as Two-finger scrolling, Three-finger, or Four-finger gestures are enabled.

2. Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

Open Device Manager.

Navigate to Mice and other pointing devices.

Look for your touchpad device (may list as Synaptics, ELAN, or Precision Touchpad depending on your model).

Update Driver

Right-click → Update driver

Select Search automatically for drivers

Reinstall Driver (if update fails)

Right-click → Uninstall device

Restart the laptop

Windows will reinstall the default driver automatically

3. Check for System Updates

Open Settings

Go to Windows Update

Click Check for updates

Install all pending updates and reboot the system

4. Configure Advanced Gestures (Optional)

Open Touchpad settings

Select Advanced gesture configuration

Customize 3-finger swipe, 4-finger tap, or multi-touch commands as required

5. Refer to Manufacturer Guidance

If your device is an HP laptop, consult the official gesture and driver guide:
HP Notebook PCs - Using the touchpad

Additional Notes

If gestures work in Windows but not in BIOS/UEFI, it indicates a driver/software layer issue.

When gestures fail only after an OS upgrade, compatibility patches from Windows Update or updated drivers from HP usually resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
