My laptop touchpad has been acting weird. This is a new computer, I've had it for a few days only. I had the same exact model on which the touchpad failed and would not work right. I got a new one under warranty and since I already had touchpad problems, decided to do a check on the new one to make sure there were no problems. I ran HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and it failed. I performed the component drag and drop test and everything worked on the left side, the right side won't move or do anything. This is the code it gave me:

Q0DNSF-94J94K-MFPW2J-G1W013

I have not been able to find any info on it, what can I do to fix the problem?

Hello nombreusuario,

That is very, very strange... also considering that it's the second.

Anyway, Failure ID Q0DNSF-94J94K-MFPW2J-G1W013 translates to Failure Code 807 or Mouse Button Failure.

This is a hardware issue.

I highly recommend returning the laptop or contacting HP:

Contact HP Worldwide here.

Phone HP Worldwide here.

Check warranty status here.

Find an HP Authorized Service Center near you here.

I'm really confused as to why you have been hit with this issue twice though...

All the best,

Eddy

The button function test passed, It's the drag and drop that failed. Can defective buttons cause that?

Hello nombreusuario,

Well I don't exactly know since this an HP Hardware test with codes and information that is (mostly) not available to the public, however, yes I feel that this can happen.

HP Documentation lists that there are 2 tests available for the trackpad: Pointer and Drag & Drop so can't be too sure about button function, as you mentioned.

Regardless, I wouldn't be wanting to use a new laptop that has been identified by HP as having a hardware failure.

Kind regards,

Eddy

It passed the pointer test, which checks right and left click. The drag and drop is the one that failed so Im assuming that the "buttons," right and left click, work and something else is whats causing the test fail results.
