Hello, after returning from a trip on a long-haul flight, I noticed that the touchpad on my laptop had become slightly tilted. Running my finger over both the left and right sides of the touchpad, I noticed that on the left side, I was able to feel the chamfered surrounding edge of the touchpad but on doing the same thing with the right-hand side, I was unable to feel the edge because the touchpad had become level with the chassis. Having put my laptop in the overhead lockers on the aeroplane, I assume that it was knocked. Is there any way to fix this and, if so, would I be able to do so myself? thank you.

You can certainly take a look at it. Might just be a loose or damaged screw...

I cannot definitively answer that question.
Whether the touchpad is "fine as is" or "might get worse" is dependent on the underlying cause of the problem, the severity of the issue, whether the "loose / tilted touchpad" could possibly affect other nearby components. For example, are there loose connectors, is the main board warped, is the touchpad just in need of being reseated?
If you are not concerned -- let it go.
If you are in need of an actual answer, you might take apart the computer and look at it (make a judgement decision).
If you cannot take apart your computer (or do not wish to do so), have a local technician look at the problem and give you a professional opinion.
