Hello,

My touchpad stopped working about 3-4 months ago, it suddenly started clicking on things on its own, if i am trying to move the cursor to the left, it goes to the right. I thought my warranty had expired but I when I checked, my warranty had not expired when this issue started 😞 Anyways I turned off the touchpad from settings and I have been using a bluetooth mouse for the past couple of months but now I am seriously tired and I miss using the touchpad.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed please?

Hi @boj68

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

We're here to help you get back up and running.

I can imagine how inconvenient it must feel to lose the natural flow of using the touchpad, especially after relying on a Bluetooth mouse for months.

Thank you for sharing the details of what you’ve already tried—it helps us focus on the right areas. Before we move into steps, let’s gather a little more information so we can isolate the cause clearly:

  • Which HP model are you using (for example, Pavilion, Envy, Spectre, Omen, etc.)?
  • When the touchpad stopped working, did you notice if the cursor movement issue happened only in Windows or also in the BIOS/firmware screen?
  • Have you installed any driver updates or Windows updates around the time the issue started?
  • Is the touchpad currently disabled in Windows Settings, or have you re‑enabled it and it still doesn’t respond?
  • Do you see the touchpad listed under “Device Manager” in Windows?
  • Have you tried connecting an external keyboard or disabling the Bluetooth mouse temporarily to see if the touchpad responds differently?
  • Are there any lights or indicators near the touchpad (some models have a small LED in the corner) that show whether it is enabled or disabled?

Once we have these details, we’ll be able to determine whether the issue is related to software drivers, touchpad settings, or hardware recognition. Would you be able to share this information so we can guide you with precise steps?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
