Hi @himank123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC's touchpad is not working, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Check Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Make sure the touchpad is enabled. Sometimes it can be accidentally turned off.
Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Find Mice and other pointing devices, and look for your touchpad driver (it might be listed as something like "ELAN Touchpad" or "Synaptics Touchpad").
- Right-click on it and select Update driver. Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
- If updating doesn't help, you can also try uninstalling the driver and then restarting your computer to allow Windows to reinstall it automatically.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes updates include drivers or fixes that could help.
Check the Touchpad Connection:
- If you’re comfortable opening up your laptop, you can check if the touchpad is properly connected to the motherboard. Sometimes, the internal connection might come loose.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Esc during startup).
- Look for touchpad settings and make sure the touchpad is enabled.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostics. Restart your computer and press Esc or F2 during startup to enter the HP Support Assistant or diagnostic utility. Run a test to see if it detects any issues with the touchpad.
Check for Physical Issues:
- Inspect the touchpad for any visible damage or debris that might be affecting its function.
External Mouse:
- If you have an external mouse connected, try disconnecting it to see if it resolves any conflicts with the touchpad.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @alden4 ,
Thanks for support. Yeah everything you mentioned I was trying and I was looking for solution. But nothing worked simply. Then I did a whole reset and update. I formatted whole drive clean installed windows updated all latest drivers through hp website. Updated BIOS and reset CMOS. Finally it worked today morning after CMOS reset.
I removed battery drained remaining power by holding power button and then detach touchpad. Then power on with ac supply. Then I attached touchpad cable and there was issue showing in device manager. The I2C HID device was giving error code 10. then I disabled it and then enabled it. Then uninstall its driver and scanned for hardware changes and that worked.
I don't know how but thats the story in my case. resetting CMOS and updating all drivers worked for me. I think there is some issue with the cable of touchpad too. It feels some strange cause it when started working it sometime work sometime don't then after some tight connection It worked fine.
