The problem is my touchpad is not working after updating the latest windows update and I am facing this problem even after uninstalling the the update.

I tried everything I could but this touch pad thing has become headache. Driver is not showing up. Sometimes it works sometime it doesn't and for that I have uninstall the updates but also depends on luck.

This is very pathetic experience I am getting and it becomes headache nowI am facing a serious issue with my laptop touchpad after installing the latest Windows update. Since the update, the touchpad has become extremely unreliable. At times it works, and at other times it stops completely. The situation is so inconsistent that even uninstalling the update does not permanently resolve the issue.
The touchpad driver is not appearing properly, and despite trying all possible troubleshooting steps—driver reinstallation, system updates rollback, and other fixes—the problem persists. At this point, the touchpad functionality seems to depend entirely on luck, which is unacceptable for regular use.
This has turned into a constant headache and has significantly affected my productivity. Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Hi @Kryfticman,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What laptop model are you using?
  2. Are you using a Synaptics, ELAN, or Windows Precision touchpad? This can help identify the correct driver.
  3. Does the touchpad fail immediately after startup, or does it stop working after some time?
  4. Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if the touchpad behaves consistently there?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you could try:

  • Reinstall HP Drivers Manually:
    1. Go to your https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers and download the latest touchpad driver specific to your model and Windows version.
    2. Uninstall any existing touchpad drivers from Device Manager.
    3. Install the downloaded driver manually and restart your laptop.
  • Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices: In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices and see if the touchpad driver appears there. If it does, uninstall it and reinstall the correct one.
  • Disable Windows Update Driver Overrides: Sometimes Windows automatically installs a generic driver that conflicts with the OEM driver. In Device Installation Settings, choose No (your device might not work as expected) for automatic driver updates.
  • Check BIOS/UEFI Settings: Some laptops have an option to enable/disable the touchpad in BIOS. Make sure it’s enabled.
  • Roll Back to a Known Good Restore Point: If the problem started after a specific update, consider restoring to a system restore point before that update (if available), then manually block that update from reinstalling temporarily.
  • HP Diagnostics : If you’re on an HP laptop, running the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool can confirm whether the touchpad hardware is functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.
