Hi @Sam2607,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the cursor move at all, or is it completely unresponsive?
  • Are you using an external mouse, and if so, does it work normally?

 Suggested Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check if Touchpad is Disabled
    • On many HP notebooks, pressing Fn + F5 (or sometimes Fn + F9/F3, depending on the model) toggles the touchpad on/off.
    • Look for a small light near the touchpad if it’s orange, the touchpad may be disabled. Double-tap the top-left corner of the touchpad to enable it.
  2. Verify Touchpad Settings in Windows
    • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad.
    • Ensure the touchpad is turned On.
  3. Update or Reinstall Drivers
    • Open Device Manager → expand Mice and other pointing devices.
    • Right-click on the touchpad driver (often listed as Synaptics ) → select Update driver.
    • If updating doesn’t help, try Uninstall device and then restart your notebook Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  4. Run HP Support Assistant
    • If installed, open HP Support Assistant and run a hardware check. This can detect and fix driver or firmware issues.
  5. BIOS Settings Check
  • Restart your notebook and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc or F10 at startup).
  • Ensure the touchpad is enabled under Advanced settings.

I hope this helps.
