Hello
I have a problem with the touchscreen on my HP Pavilion 11.
Not only doesn't it work properly , but it also keeps distorting the screen ( "soapbubbles" keep appearing ) and I can't control the cursor.
The latest drivers are installed and since I am not a great fan of touchscreens on computers anyway I've tried to switch it off or remove it all together.in "human interface"..( device manager )
The problem is that it simply won't stay away !!! After about fifteen minutes there it is again; screwing up the screen and it's also back in "human interface".
Does anybody out there know how to get rid of it once and for all ? ( fixing it would also be acceptable but not necesarry )
regards
Peter.

Hi @stijfvrijer
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Try these steps - HP PCs - Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues
If you'd like to disable the touchscreen, try these steps -
1. Search for and open regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch
3. Create a new DWORD (32 bit) with the name TouchGate
4. Doubleclik on the newly ceated DWORD and make sure it has the value 0
(0 = touch disabled, 1 = touch enabled)
5. Restart the computer
HP recommends backing up the registry before modifying it. Refer to this document to steps to back-up the registry.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello Asmita6658
A little late perhaps, but I'm still not sure I've got it working correctly;
Well I am. It's still giving me problems.
Could you please explain this giving of values to the Dword.
I don't understand how to do this.
I'm not an expert in this area. ( to put it mildly )
Peter.

Hi @stijfvrijer
Thanks for replying.
What seems to be the issue? Are you getting any error message? Can you send us a screenshot?
To give value, right click on the "Touch" option and click on the DWORD(32-bit) value and name it TouchGate.
Double click on the TouchGate option to check if it is 0 or 1.
Let me know.

Hello Asmita
I have this problem of disabling the faulty touchscreen on my Pavilion permanently.
You gave me instructions on how to do that, but I don't know how to give the new DWORD new values as per your instructions. ( instruction nr.4 of 5 )
There is not much point in sending a screenshot, but I'll try if you insist.
regards
Peter.

Try these steps -
1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
3) The touch screen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touch screen device and select Disable.
Let me know.
