Hi there,
I am having an issue where my trackpad will randomly start to become less responsive, it feels like it is lagging or delayed.
When the laptop first starts the trackpad is fine, but after a while, it becomes less responsive, and then after a while will fix itself.
This does not happen with a mouse.
Could this be a driver problem? If so, none of the drivers for my laptop show up on the HP website.
Cheers

Hi @Mrjamfish,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, the issue you're describing with the trackpad on your Victus by HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop could indeed be related to a driver problem. Trackpad responsiveness issues can often be addressed by updating or reinstalling the necessary drivers.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem.
Update Trackpad Drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager on your laptop.
- Find the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.
- Right-click on the trackpad device and select "Update driver."
- Choose to search for updated driver software automatically.
Reinstall Trackpad Drivers:
- In the Device Manager, right-click on the trackpad device.
- Select "Uninstall device."
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. The system will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Check HP Website for Drivers:
- While you mentioned that you couldn't find drivers on the HP website, it's still worth double-checking.
- Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and look for driver updates specifically related to the trackpad or touchpad.
Windows Update:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up-to-date by running Windows Update. Sometimes, Microsoft includes driver updates in its regular system updates.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on the HP website. These updates can sometimes address hardware-related issues.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Certain third-party software or utilities might interfere with the trackpad functionality. Try disabling or uninstalling any recently installed programs to see if it makes a difference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
