On my Elitebook x360 touchpad I sometimes have to press the touchpad really hard. or several times to select anything. Any single click will not open a file, Instead I have to try and click the file so it goes blue and then try to right click and select the "Open" option on the drop down menu to open the file. I have the touchpad settings on high sensitivity. I can not see the touchpad driver anywhere in device manager even with Hidden Devices selected. Any help very much appreciated.

It helps when one states which OS is installed. You chose other, but I suspect Windows since you mention the Device Manager
It would also help if you provide an HP product number.
What you have done is a bit like going into any car dealership, not one that matches your car manufacturer, and expecting them to have specific parts for your car's motor or suspension.

That was just an analogy.
I would have given you more help if I had at least had the operating system installed.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I was sarcastic !! However, the OS is windows 10 22H2 64 bit. Very often, especially when I first open file explorer after logging in, when I one-touch the trackpad nothing happens and I have to double tap with 2 fingers to open a drop down menu and then click the "Open" option to open a file. At other times everything will work okay. Just annoying!! I can not see the word "Trackpad" anywhere in Device Manager, although I assume it is associated with the Synaptics option. Just wondered if it is possible the trackpad itself could be dirty and needs cleaning?
Thanks for any help/advice

Not a problem.
I have had the same experience before and can understand how annoying a touchpad issue can be.
I am leaning towards replacing the trackpad as the best solution
