Hi @Archie39,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding touch pad!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps to fix it:

Check If the Trackpad Is Disabled

Use the Function Key:

  • Press Fn + F7 (or F5, F9, etc., depending on your laptop) to toggle the trackpad on/off.
  • Look for a trackpad icon on your function keys.

Restart Your Laptop

Restarting can refresh the drivers and fix minor glitches.

Check Mouse Settings

If you have an external mouse, use it to check:

  1. Press Windows + I → Go to DevicesTouchpad
  2. Make sure Touchpad is enabled
  3. Adjust sensitivity settings if needed

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices
  3. Right-click on your touchpad driver → Select Update driver
  4. If updating doesn’t work, right-click again and select Uninstall → Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall it automatically).

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityWindows Update
  • Install any pending updates

Reset BIOS Settings (If Nothing Else Works)

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 or Del (varies by model) to enter BIOS
  • Look for Touchpad settings and make sure it's enabled
  • Save changes and restart

Still Not Working?

If none of these steps work, the touchpad hardware might be faulty.

Let me know what happens after trying these steps! 😊
