Internal camera no longer working. Device manager not listing camera despite showing all.

Was recommended to delete and reinstall Truevision camera driver but after deleting I was unable to find driver to reinstall.

Unable to restore to previous windows.

Scan for new hardware doesn't work.

At a lost cause now 😞 Can anyone help?!!

@BAXTERFAM Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that Truevision camera drivers deleted.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please provide the correct product number.

In the meantime perform the below steps and check.

 Look for the Kill Switch

Newer HP laptops have a Kill Switch feature designed to physically disconnect your webcam.  This is helpful for preventing bad people from activating your webcam remotely but can be overlooked when trying to use the webcam for video conferencing.  If your model has a kill switch, make sure it’s switched on.

Try a hard reset

When Windows doesn’t see devices like cameras, sometimes it just needs to be forced to look again.  Try a power reset.

Once detected, you should see the camera in the Device Manager.  Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.  Expand the Cameras section to see your camera.

TIP:  You can disable the web cam here in the Device Manager by right-clicking on the camera and select Disable Device.  Don’t forget to enable it later if needed.

    Install the driver

Sometimes Windows needs the latest camera driver for the camera to function well.  While in the Device Manager, right-click on your camera and select Update Driver.  Then click Search Automatically for updated driver software.  The latest driver is always available via Windows Update.

Sadly your recommendation hasn't solved my problem.

It's no longer in device manager even when I select show all. I have searched for Windows 10 driver for it but there isn't one available.

I have searched everywhere to no avail. I need the driver for Truevision inbuilt camera. Please can you investigate and upload the driver link. Thank you

@BAXTERFAM

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggest you try creating a new user account on your computer.

Go to http://hp.care/2dWJKgW  and follow the steps to create a new user account.

If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!
