My Spectre Folio and its built-in keyboard are wonderful, but every now and then I need something more for it.
I need to type in a bunch of old French - OCR won't do it - and using a French on-screen keyboard is misery. So I splurged $20 on an HP French-Canadian keyboard that looks mostly familiar (QWERTY), feels good, has lots of extra keys to ease the challenges, and doesn't work.
All the detailed docs I find are for XP to 8, plus basics for now very old versions of 10. Windows 10 offers me Canadian Multilingual Standard or French (France), plus Canadian French (Legacy). All of them produce results that only match the keys here once in a while.
Anyone know how to set up a Windows keyboard that doesn't match the layout expectations built into recent versions of Windows 10? I'm finding nothing in searches. (HP SK806a, 505129-121, French-Canadian with lots of nice extra but apparently WRONG keys.)

In the end, I downloaded Microsoft`s aging Keyboard Layout Creator and the version of .NET it needed, and then DIY`d my own layout. Have the same problem? The file I built is at http://simonstl.com/HpSK806a.klc .
Thanks,
Simon
