HP Compaq L2311c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there

I'm trying to connect my HP Compaq L2311c monitor to my Lenovo All in One A340-24ICB so I have two monitors running at the same time for work but I can't seem to get the HP monitor to be operational. It comes up with a Check Video Cable message, I've tried USB 3.0 cable for hp to Lenovo using all USB ports available with no luck. Is there a specific cable I need or am I just not using the correct ports??

I really need this for work so any help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Hope to here from anyone soon

Kind regard

The HP monitor has a built in docking station which translates a USB signal to video and requires a driver. This is the Windows 7 driver:

HHP has not published a Windows 10 driver for it for some reason.

Hi Huffer

Thanks for replying, So I just need to download all 7 items from that link and then connecting my monitor to Lenovo AIO will start working? USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 cables from HP to Lenovo. Sorry if its a silly response I'm not that tech savy.

Did a USB cable come with the monitor? Can we maybe have a picture of the available ports? The monitor apparently has an ethernet port as well so you need just the one drive called "combined" and it should activate the video and the ethernet on the monitor when connected to the computer. However, since it is a Windows 7 64 bit driver it may take some special work to make it compatible with Windows 10. This is the combined driver:

If you do not care about the ethernet this is the driver for just the video function:

Hi

No I only got a Power supply with monitor as I bought is second hand, I will attach a couple pics now of both HP and Lenovo. Just to say also the HP has 2 USB 3.0 ports on the side of monitor.

I was thinking about this cable? will this connect my HP to Lenovo so both monitors are on and operational?

Yes that is exactly what you need...usb 3.0 A to B cable. The A end is the square blue that goes into the monitor and the B is the regular flat rectangular USB plug that goes into the computer. Install the driver on the computer. We may need to force install or install it in compatibility mode.

If this does not work you can do an HDMI to VGA adapter.

Plug the HDMI into the computer and the VGA connects to the monitor.

Hi Huffer

Once I've gotten either of those cables and tried it out I'll update this topic. Thanks again, if anyone else has other ideas then please feel free to reply

Be sure to use the "SS" USB port on the computer. That is the USB 3 port. It will work from a USB 2.0 port but the video might be choppy.
