Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Victus 16 s0004ns, I have had a big problem for a long time. The fans are very noisy and they are very annoying in the library and elsewhere; they are always active or almost always. The thing is, I have tried everything: putting energy saving on Windows to reduce the processor's power, setting eco mode on Omen gaming, trying to find some option in the BIOS, I have tried several applications to control the fans and the cooling curve manually (fan control, speed fan, notebook fan control, Argus monitor... etc.) and NOTHING has worked for me, so I have come to the conclusion that there must be something preventing me from controlling them manually, blocking them, like an EC chip. I want to know if there is any solution to control the speed of the fans as I wish and to be able to turn them off until a certain temperature, etc., in order not to disturb or to be disturbed while doing office tasks and so on. Thank you.

@mig33, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you've already tried quite a few solutions, but the persistent fan noise is definitely a frustrating issue, especially when you're trying to work in quiet environments like a library. The HP Victus 16, like many gaming laptops, has aggressive fan profiles that can sometimes be difficult to control, even with third-party applications.

Since you've already tested various software solutions, let’s go through some more troubleshooting steps:

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

Restart your laptop and press F10 during boot to enter the BIOS.

Look for fan control options or thermal settings to see if you can set the fans to a quieter mode.

Update BIOS

Go to HP Support, enter your laptop’s model, and check for any BIOS updates. Install if available.

Use Omen Command Center

Open Omen Command Center (or HP Command Center).

Set your Thermal Mode to Silent or adjust the fan settings for quieter operation.

Close Unnecessary Background Processes

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and close apps using a lot of CPU.

Disable unnecessary apps from Startup.

Update Drivers

Ensure your chipset and GPU drivers are up to date from Device Manager or the manufacturer’s website.

Clean Fans & Replace Thermal Paste

If comfortable, clean dust from your fans or replace thermal paste to improve cooling.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

I appreciate your response, but I'm afraid I've already tried everything you mentioned without success. I finally found the solution thanks to Windows' power options, where I configured a new profile that sets the processor's maximum power to 50 percent. This doesn't seem to make the fans turn on as much. It's not the solution I'd like, as I still can't control the fans properly, but it's the only one that has had significant effects. If anyone in the community is having this problem, I recommend trying this approach. If you could give me any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks again for the response.
