Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

original product was an hp pavillion tg01 computer so it has this green light on it. However I fried the motherboard and had to replace it with one from like an hp envy computer. I saw a post about turning off the green light by downloading hp omen gaming hub but mine doesn't detect mine is a hp pavillion, instead it just say hp pc. Is there a non physical way of disabling it or should i just open it up and unplug the wire. Thank you!

Hi @vincentwangvw1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since you've replaced the motherboard in your HP Pavilion TG01 with one from an HP Envy, the HP Omen Gaming Hub may not recognize the system as a Pavilion, which is why the software control for the light isn't functioning as expected.

Given this situation, here are your options:

Check BIOS Settings

Some HP motherboards offer options to disable or control RGB lighting directly from the BIOS. To check:

  • Restart your PC and enter the BIOS by pressing Esc, F2, or Delete during startup (varies by model).
  • Look for any settings related to RGB lighting or LED control under the Advanced or Power menus.
  • If you find a relevant setting, disable or adjust it to turn off the green light.

Use HP Command Center (if available)

Sometimes, the HP Command Center application (different from Omen Gaming Hub) can manage lighting for HP systems. Try downloading and installing HP Command Center from the Microsoft Store and see if it recognizes your system for lighting control.

Manually Disconnect the RGB Cable

If no software-based options work, disconnecting the RGB light physically may be your only option. You can:

  • Open the case and locate the cable that powers the green light on your case.
  • Unplug it carefully to stop the lighting altogether.

This physical solution is simple and effective, especially since the system is using a different motherboard that may not fully support the original lighting controls.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
