Your comparison does not make sense.

 

In a standard PC that come with two graphics processors, you have a situation known as Switchable Graphics -- in which the OS senses demand for graphics processing and SWITCHES the graphics handling from one GPU to the other.  The two GPUs are not in use at the same time.

 

In desktops, there has been the ability for some time to connect two graphics cards together, and when that is done, ALL the GPUs are being used at the same time.  This feature is not available for laptops.
