I bought this laptop because of the Type C charging. The Type C connector on the supplied power adapter is broken.
I purchased a Type C charger and Type C cable to find out HP locked them out.
What is the point in having Type C to charge if you are restricted to HPs adapter?
So I spend $60 on HPs very low quality charger to have it break again?
Is there a hack around this? I want to use my own charger with my own higher quality cable. Duh
I realize it charges powered off. That's obviously not sufficient.
If HP refuses to resolve this very simple issue. Then I will just throw this in the trash and go back to Dell. Amusing thing even if HP releases a bios update to fix this issue. You can't install it without the factory power adapter.
Thanks

Well, that was a waste of time.
Threw the laptop in the trash. I refuse to give HP money for a Type C charger when they purposely locked out all other Type C chargers. I refuse to buy another Type C charger from HP that will just break at the plug a few months later.
Goodbye HP, never again.

Why not send me a replacement charger? Why make me spend $50 on something that costs you $5? Especially when i'm unhappy and the device broke because it's just poor quality?
Also, you plan to sell this charger for the next 20 years? No I can barely find a new one on Ebay.
*facepalm*
