HP Pavilion 11-n083sa x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Now retired I cannot spend the money I use to on IT equipment, so am looking at ways to improve what I have got.

Can I upgrade the CPU on my  HP Pavilion 11-n083sa x360?

If yes is it easy and where can I purchase a CPU

I have found a SSD drive and Memory, is that easy to insert and can I get information on how to do it.

As a Facilities Manager for large corporates, I have over the years always used HP 'stuff'. Thank you HP for never letting me down...

Hi,

The CPU is not upgradable as it is integrated on the motherboard. So your machine will never really be a performance machine as it has the Celeron N2830 CPU.

There are a couple of things you can do. You can upgrade the RAM to 8GB of DDR3L 1600MHz and replace the 4GB module you have at the moment.

On page 41 of service manual you can see how to do this.

You can replace the 2.5" Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD and then reinstall the OS on the SSD either by cloning the drive or performing a clean install.

Example of RAM and SSD

To create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 on it:

Hope it helps,

David

Hi David,

Thank you for your response,

I have Windows 10 on the laptop, Why would I need To create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10?

I have seen a HP Envy13-Ab0xx-i7-7500 500 GB M2 SSD 1920x1080 hz multi-touch touchscreen
Model: HP Spectre X360 for £200,  Do not understand the spec! would this be a wise purchase instead of the upgrade.

You're welcome Ronnie.

If you replace the drive with an SSD in your notebook you will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

You can either clone the drive to the new SSD by using a SATA to USB cable or as I mentioned you can create a USB drive and use this drive to reinstall the OS on the new SSD.

Your second question.

Yes, it is definitely worth it. It is a much more powerful machine than your notebook with an SSD and FHD screen. You do not mention how much RAM it has? You need to know how much RAM it has before buying it as the RAM in that particular model is onboard and not upgradable (no slot) 13-ab0xx is the series and not the specific model number. In that series, the various models can come with 4, 8 or 16GB of RAM.

So if it only has 4GB of RAM I would not buy it.

So let me know,

David

Hi David,

They have come back, as made a mistake on the advert, so to confirm the laptop as HP Envy 13-Ad060na i7-7500 500 GB M2 SSD 1920x1080 60 Hz multitouch screen andhas 8 GB Ram is  it's integrated onto the board. The guy is old like me and cannot read the data on the label on the back of the laptop......

thank you Ronnie
