Pavilion Laptop, Starwars Edition.
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
About 6 months after I bought it the USB 2 port stopped working.  Didn't need that port until recently, so it was no big deal.   I've tried every remedy offered with respect to the Device Manager, un-installing & re-installing drivers, changing limits in the registry, etc.   I even replaced the circuit board that housed the USB 2 port, that board also contained a USB 3 port, card reader, and ethernet connector, all of which worked.  I've re-installed win10 with a clean new hd, and enabled legacy switches in the BIOS.  Still the USB 2 port refuses to work, although it does have power.  My last venture was installing a different hd and doing a clean install of Linux Mint, which also failed to recognize the USB 2 port. This leaves me to conclude that the problem is with the BIOS itself, possibly an upgrade to the flash memory that contains the BIOS.  This is the error code returned from HP diagnostics:  GU5P6C-80B9B7-MFPWLK-8D1S03.
