Hello. I know that there are already several posts regarding this issue, and I have tried the various troubleshooting steps discussed therein, but nothing has worked to rectify my situation, so hopefully someone on here can assist further.
I have purchased two different brands of USB 3.0 thumb drives: a Memorex and a PNY. Both of them have given me the same issue: slow transfer speeds when transferring large files from the laptop to the USB drive (transfer speeds from USB to laptop appear to run just fine with no slowdown or lag). My laptop is an HP 17-ca0064cl with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx, 2000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s); 12GB RAM; 500GB SSD. All diagnostic tests on the laptop come back with no issues; I even went so far as to reinstall the AMD drivers and software, as I had run into an issue in the past where the software from AMD was in conflict with the software that was installed during a Windows update.
I have reformatted both of the USB drives in both NTFS and exFAT formats, with no success thereafter. The transfer speed will start out blazing fast, only to peter down to around 12mb/sec after about two or three seconds, where it sits for the remainder of the transfer. I have changed the setting to "Better Performance" on both under both formats, also with no success. What is especially odd to me is the fact that my 5TB Seagate external HDD has transfer speeds in line with what USB 3.0 should deliver, but the thumb drives do not.
I truly don't understand what the issue could be at this point. If anyone has any suggestions or help to offer, it would be most appreciated. Thank you.
