My USB 3.0 Type A flashdrive does not fit to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port. Is there a problem in the port of the laptop or is my flashdrive just not compatible to the port?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Have you tried with different USB flash drive?
- Have you checked the USB port is loose?
When you plug a USB devices into a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port that is unresponsive, gently wiggle the connection to see if it fits.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
