HP Pavilion Dv6 7080ee Core i7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear HP Family,

I am using HP Pavilion Dv6 7080ee 2nd generation Core i7 laptop, it comes with Builin Windows 7 Home Prem but last month I installed windows 10 on it since that I am facing USB Port issues all usb ports (04) are not working but in 2 ports I am able to run USB 3.0 Mass Storage Device but USB 2.0 all devices are not working including Data Travellers, Printers, Internet Dongles every thing is dead I am getting USB Device Not Recognized Error in it I tried several techniques of Issue resolving from Internet Blogs but I am not able to resolve this issue.

In Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus there are four devices listed as Device Descriptor Failed and in one Port Reset failed.

Please help me in this regad as my whole work is stuck.

redux1.,

did you buy this PC when new.? y/n

did you buy it broken,? seem yes USB fails on W7 so you think (wrong) that w10 fixes that.

if you bought it broken the other guy did that, my guess failed to load all HP drivers, and left it naked MS W7.

your PC does not support W10 period, HP tells you that on your HP support page.

my wild guess now, (not stated by you ) is PC is old and landed in your lamp busted, at least USB my guess lots more.

not only that but the F11 Key HP recovery mode is dead, from pervious owners bad acts or bad luck.

so you  then fail to  do  1 of 2 things.    (w10 is not it)

1: load the HP media kit , and bam back  to day 1 full working PC and for sure all USB. working

note i did not say all USB devices working that are dead now, like some old 2000 year, wifi dongle an relic web cam.

the HP kit  has EVERYTHING THERE<  all drivers, all hp apps, ALL things, just like new.

the USB ports work  , but not all 5000 usb devices for XP will not. run.  sorry ,  we can work each one , by one.

you never said a mouse or keyboard fails in the dead USB port to me, why?  does it>? this is test 1.. not a TV ever.

2: or you load MS fresh from MS , costs is $120.  and load that, why , do that? can imagine not doing above way cheaper.

2b: then you go to HP support page and drown load all the drivers listed there,  some will  fail as some are from other models of DV6 7080ee .

the service tag has a p/n there, and that tells HP what chipped mobo you have.

on mine there are 3 wifi chips and 3 lan and 3 video GPU us chips used (called options)

only one driver each will run, others will error out  (means chip not there)

Dear Savvy2,

I have also reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit two times, same issue exists.

Usb 3.0 mass storage devices are working while same issue exists all 2.0 usb devices are not working. Before when I installed Windows 10 all USB 2.0 and 3.0 Devices were working.

Once, I pluged my 2.0 USB in my LED TCL TV and then plugged in laptop since that this issue is existing.

I am too much stuck with this headace. Pls help

wow,  we cant watch you do it wrong here

You installed it 2 times, using what media from WHOM? not told by you yet.

i could do that 100 times wrong, want to watch me>?

the correct answer is HP MEDIA KIT, peroid (F11 method dead Im sure)

You PC came new with all that working

my guess you didnt have it new did  you?

and saw that fact clear as day.

so

then  you slam the w7 with w10 , HP does not support W10 here, so many chips are now dead. and more !!!

and many applications . from HP.

if you had used the HP media kit (installer)  all this stuff here, goes byebye,

you do know that right?

it worked day1,  you clear on that? day 1 new, correct?

if you want to do it the wrong way or the long long hard way say so but do know that  some things can fail

like the poster here,  on the HP PC,  2009 that has AMD grapics chip HP6xxxx.

there is no w10 AMD driver on earth for that chip, (one example) so what then? back to w7 from HP.

no man on earth can give you , chip driver not ever invented or made yet, sure hacker promise for $30 and give junk.

one is the AMD beta driver that is sick and will never ever ever run right again  , says AMD.

USB 2.0 all devices are not working including Data Travellers, Printers, Internet Dongles every thing is dead I am getting USB Device Not Recognized Error

lets work one problem at a time, forget that TV thing for now. lets work the above, 1 thing, one port USB2

ok , please..... thanks.

does a mouse work in that port? dead port (start simple workup to bigger more complex things, in all cases we do that first)

there are 10,000 printers i can tell you for a fact most printers do not run on modern PC, some only run on XP

or w2k. or newer.

internet dongle, name one fully please, I can till you there are vast dongles that do not work on w7 up, want a box full/?

so next try a keyboard, in that so called dead port. USB 2.  ( I cant watch you so,,  cant see whats really wrong)

does that work ?sure it does if the internet connection are up, are they?

next:  does a simple USB stick work,  ?  memory stick y/n/?   again internet connected.

you do know a pc  is useless if no internet right, you cant add devices lacking that.

or get to hard sneaker net swaps one PC to other.

PNP has only 2 source (w10 has 4) Plug and PLaY.

PnP uses the C: windows driver store,  (full or antique drivers)

then the PC goes to microsoft.com  servers for drivers next ,   if the internet is down there will be no new drivers period

end story.

did you look in the device manager?

like i ask? for errors, there any ? i do that first. really.

there are really 2 drivers here.

one for the port or it will be DEAD

then the device plugged into it has a driver,  so lets do the one by one,

slamming the OS does this every time

killing dead all the HP, OS, drivers, apps, the HPrecovery partition the HP tools partition. does that. you did that.

do you or do you not have internet up.?

step one is alway put an ethernet cable from the PC to the router.

and get that working first. or all steps will hard hard work.

That connections makes the internet work.

and when that works PnP works

see? step 1. did you?

on many PCs when you SLAM  it.

it is born with all LAN and WLAN ports dead, no internet.  (not HP disks ever)

and we then go to HP and get the LAN driver, first.

or if a intel chip there , even Intel.

try to know I dont know what chip is there, as most PC have 5 choices there, even one model but not sub models.

see?  if you need proof of this read the support page under drivers LAN. see?

Must i ask 1 question at  time ?

ok

w7 loaded.

is the internet up. or not.

end quesition 1.

I guess you do not know what PnP is... is that it?

wiki it?

  1. it boils down to this.
  2. did you kill dead the F11 key,  the HP recovery key,  yes/no.
  3. if yes then its all hard work now. or buy the HP recovery kit.

is that clear??

f11 works on HP 2006 and newer,  PC;s best i  can tell this is a 2012 PC and the F11 key is gold.

F11 is HP full recovery , press key at power on, hammer it, and bam recover back to day one new.,

did you know that?

simply

get it fixed

or learn to fix it your self.

your PC does not run on W10

you never saw this PC new did you, (yes/no)

so never saw it run perfectly as it id day one new.

and someone slammed it , erased all the HP software end to and put on Microsoft W7 and is toast.

so you see that and think gee W10 can fix that, NO IT CAN't

buy the HP media kit and put it back to day 1.

that is the cure,

the other cure  is much longer,  im not doing that here. sorry.

the HP support pages are clear on this did you look?

here is the kit
