HP Pavilion x360 - 14-ba009ne
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I bought this laptop with features stating 2 usb 3.1 A type and 1 Type -C. Got a new USB 3.1 hard drive but noticed it is slow. Went to device manager and checked the USB controllers, it states USB 3.0 EXtensible host controller - 1.0 (Microsoft), same for root hub.

Why I don't see 3.1, is it Windows related or I should do anything (bios, power, etc) to benefit from the 3 USB 3.1  ports?

Thank you for your help.

@Dr_Sam
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo installed on the PC.

If corrupted system files or bad sectors exist on the storage devices, it may also slow down the device speed.

  • Have you checked the device in "Disk Management"? If no, just type Disk Management in windows search BOX  and open the application to see instaled drives.
  • Have you tried checking this drive on a different computer?

Try this workaround:
In Device Manager' select Drives from the list of hardware, then right-click on the USB external hard drive and click Uninstall. Once it's done unplug the USB cable. Then, wait for a minute and reconnect the USB 3.1 USB drive.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
