What happens if I connect the HP Universal Docking Station via USB C to my (private) HP Notebook, whose USB C port is not intended for charging (I have the docking station for business reasons, the business notebook supports charging via USB C)

The USB-C is data transfer only so it will act like a legacy USB port. Network and USB on the dock will work. DP ports will not and you will not be able to charge through the dock.

Thanks. So there's no risk of an electric "impact" or failure to my private Notebook as the USB C connection is usually delivering power to my business notebook?

HP Recommended

No but to be safe you can remove the power input to the dock when using it on your personal machine. Should not be needed.
