Hello, I have read that some models are compatible with the power of the USB-C port and the HP Y0K80AA#ABA and some are not (needing the adapter). Does anyone have a list of specific models? MIne is 14-cf1015cl and does not appear to be compatible. I am trying to determine if the dock is defective or just a limitation of my laptop model. Thank you so much, Brad in San Diego.

I think your machine is 14-cf1015cl (letter l for lolly) not 14-cf1015cli (letter i for ink). Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06152880
which says it has
- 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s);
- 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only);
- 1 HDMI 1.4b.
- 1 RJ-45;
- 1 headphone/microphone combo
As you know, not all USB-C ports are the same and as you can see above USB-C port on your machine is similar to UAB-A ports, except its shape.
Depending on what are you trying to do, USB-A dock could be the right choice. My choice for productivity and few more years down the track:
Regards.

Thank you BH for answering my question. You are right about the model. So it sounds like the dock is working just fine and that my laptop's USB-C isn't robust enough to take advantage of all the features. That's OK. I am happy with what I have.
