USB-C Dock G4

Hi,

I have an USB-C G4 dock works quite well, except one thing. When I connect two monitors to this (one using HDMI other DisplayPort) the two external monitors can be used only in mirrored mode. My OS is MacOS Sonoma.

Based on the specification it should support two (or even three) external monitors. Is this specific issue with MacOS or it simply a limitation of the dock?

If this is a limitation of the dock, can anyone recommend a not very expensive dock which will support two external monitors in extended mode (one is 2K and other is FullHD)?

Thank you

That is likely to be a MacOS issue.

In Windows it is simply a matter of using the Windows key + P for presentation mode to choose whether mirroring or extending will be used.

So, extending to one display is ok, but when I add one more monitor, the extended one just mirrored to this second monitor. I think this is somehow related to DisplayLink technology which is missing from this product, but I'm not sure.

Anybody here tried this G4 dock either using windows or mac with two external monitor (plus the builtin one) and all the three is in extended mode?

Another reason I think it is not a MacOS issue because when one of the monitor connected directly to the Mac using a HDMI-USB-C cable it is perfect

"two external monitors in extended mode (one is 2K and other is FullHD)"

That may very well be the problem.

The devices need to be setup to the same specifications in their menus if that is possible. The resolution differences in the displays you describe would not make that possible.

Most people use identical displays not different ones as you have done.

That is not true. I'm using a simlar setup by connecting two monitors with different resolution directly to Mac and it is working perfectly. I suppose the same true for Windows. So, in general this is not a problem. I'm sure this is some kind of limitation of this particular dock

Did you read what I wrote completely?
