I have been using the USB-C port on my HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-es2066nr for about 2 years along with the HDMI port to have 2 external displays connected. Suddenly, the USB-C port isn't working for that display. I have tried other devices connected to it, which seem to work but not all the time. It seems that whatever I connect to it turns on and off rapidly, making it virtually unusable for anything. And since it's the only other port on this laptop that can send a display signal, I now only have the 1 external display available.
I have checked that the BIOS and all drivers are up-to-date, and Windows Update says there are no updates available. Do you have any suggestions on how this may be fixed?

@klavergne, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check for Physical Issues
Inspect the USB-C port: Make sure there’s no dust or debris in the USB-C port that might be interfering with the connection. If there’s anything stuck in there, it can cause poor contact.
Check the cable: Sometimes the cable itself might be the issue, especially if it’s worn or not fully compatible with your setup. Test with a different USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter (if you're using one).
Reset the Display Settings
Sometimes the system's display settings might be stuck in a configuration that affects multiple displays.
Right-click on the desktop, select Display Settings, and check that your external display is detected properly.
Click Detect to see if Windows can manually pick up the external display.
Update or Reinstall USB-C Drivers
Even though you’ve updated the drivers, you can try uninstalling the USB-C drivers and letting Windows reinstall them automatically:
Open Device Manager.
Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and right-click on the USB-C driver.
Select Uninstall device.
Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
Check Graphics Settings
Since you have multiple displays, ensure that the GPU settings are configured correctly:
Right-click on the desktop and go to Graphics Settings or use any proprietary GPU software (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA Control Panel).
Ensure the displays are set up to mirror or extend properly, and check if the external monitor is detected there.
System Restore (if recent issue)
If this issue started recently, you might want to perform a System Restore to a time when the USB-C port was working correctly. This can undo any changes that may have caused the issue.
Type "System Restore" in the search bar and follow the instructions to restore your system to an earlier date.
Hardware Issue
If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the USB-C port. This could be due to physical damage to the port or a failure in the motherboard itself. If your laptop is still under warranty, consider contacting HP Support for further diagnosis.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
